Multiple sclerosis vitamins are important consideration for anyone suffering from MS and there are a number of different vitamins and supplements that can be taken to help in your fight against multiple sclerosis. Three generally acknowledged supplements for multiple sclerosis are, vitamin D, calcium, and magnesium. Vitamin D is especially important in areas of the world that are exposed to less sunlight and can help reduced relapses. Calcium is important to maintain good bone health as there are links between osteoporosis and MS whilst magnesium helps produce cellular energy which is needed for nerve impulse transmission. For magnesium deficiencies are common in patients with multiple sclerosis and may well be caused by a diet high in saturated fats and refined foods.

Other important multiple sclerosis vitamins include vitamin C, vitamin D, and vitamin E. The B vitamins tend to work together and are required by your body for the normal functioning of the nerves and brain, as well as helping with the release of energy from food. Along with multiple sclerosis vitamins, oils are also an important supplement with the most common ones taken being evening primrose oil, flax seed oil and fish oils. Evening primrose oil is a rich source of essential fatty acids and is highly in Omega 6 which helps regulate the immune system. Fish oil supplements are high in Omega 3 essential fatty acids and are needed to help the nervous system option normally as well as reducing inflammation. Unsurprisingly the incidence of MS is lower in countries where the intake of oily fish is high. Flax seed oil provide a good balance of Omega 6 and Omega 3 and is a good alternative to fish seed oils if you are a vegetarian.

I changed my diet significantly a few years ago and the changes in my health have been remarkable.
